the saddest day of the summer, forecastle day 3

So, Sunday was our last full day in Louisville *sad face*
we slept in a little and lounged around our hotel room before entering the festival around 2
It was overwhelmingly hot, I started feeling a little woozy from the heat so naturally I suggested we go next door to Joe's Crab Shack for a drink and that and chugging a bottle of water along with the quick nap I took on a hill inside the festival made me feel like a new woman

after walking around the festival one last time and saying our last good byes, we caught the first band we were really excited to see for the night, Nickel Creek, they have rejoined on tour the last several months, y'all, they have been a band for 25 YEARS and they each look better than a lot of 25 year old's I know and sounded soooo good
We then ate a pizza dinner called the "David Bowie" it was spicy and delicious,we had to carb up for the brain explosion that was about to asume
said explosion was the man himself
BECK
there are too many words and quotes from this show, honestly top five shows I've ever seen in my whole life
he was charming, funny and danced a whole lot
he played ALL the hits and one of my personal faves, "Gamma Ray"
he manged to make "Two Turntables" last 20 minutes
it was one of the most upbeat and funnest shows I've ever seen
so without wording too much I'll just stop the Beck rave here and now

oh yeah, and that's not all,
in a dream world where anything is possible I would like to start a hashtag
#musiciansatwhitecastle

first installment, Jim James of My Morning Jacket enjoying some fast food

Forecastle day 2!

We started our second day in Louisville pretty early, after smashing the hotels five star breakfast, we got ready and were out the door by 12:30
we explored downtown and little bit, then to the festival we go!
first thing in, i ate a lobster roll from the Longshot Lobstah food truck, so fresh and the bread was amazing! we also tried a little bit of wine from the Old 502 tent set up inside the festival-genius-particularly the Riesling and Bourbon barrel red, both delicious

Then we headed to our first show
We first went to the Port Stage and saw The Wans, Then hopped to see Boy and Bear, then ran to another stage to see Spanish Gold rock our socks off, the back AGAIN to see Lord Huron, such an ethereal sound they have, Jason Isbell was up after that, with a set full of the crowd singing along, you could just tell he was really enjoying himself, I left his set a little early to catch Band of Horses, a band I used to like when I was a teenager, still can't dissapoint,

Then y'all, it happened, Dwight Yoakam, charming as ever and always cracking a joke, this was my second time with Dwight and I loved every second of it.

And last was the incomparable Jack White, he came on the stage in a head banging, guitar playing fury, belting out hit after hit, he gave a shout out to Dwight and also did a little riff on 99 problems,
he close the show with Seven Nation Army and the crowd went fucking nuts, even as we were leaving people were still chanting that melodic entry to the song.
It was an amazing day that just went by too fast

Forecastle,sadly, was last weekend.
I say sadly because last Friday I was watching Outkast live and this Friday I'm watching Friends reruns
Forecastle takes place waterfont, on the Ohio River, a beautiful venue
with amazing food, I ate a felafel gyro, a lobster roll and all the free goodies the T.G.I.Friday's Van was giving out..And the drinking!
Don't even get me started on that, a bourbon tasting tent with the best Kentucky has to offer, Tito's Vodka, a custom margarita tent, Ole Smokey moonshine drinks, 5 dolla Four Loco's!, and a Gonzo bar, honoring the late, great Hunter S. Thompson, featured a happy hour from 2-3

But the music tho.
Started our first day off with the Black Lips at 2, after seeing them at 11 the previous night, gotta be some kinda record

Then we caught some of Gary Clark Jr, Willie Watson and the Local Natives before the piece de resistance
MUHHHH FUGGIN' OUTKAST Y'ALL
OMG
DID YOU HEAR ME?
OUTKAST
SOOOOOOOOOO GOOD
They opened up with B.O.B and we all went crazy
and they ended with The Whole World
and...yeah, we all went crazy, it was one of the best sing alongs of my life
